Author's Review
"Hotel California" is probably the only song which you would hear even in places as obscure as a roadside tea shop in Southern India.
The album speaks volumes of the songwriting ability of Don Henlet, Don Felder, Joe Walsh and Glenn Frey. Usually, you come across rock songs which get one or two things right (and everything else wrong). For instance, the song might have a great guitar solo or a great melody or great lyrics - but rarely, all of these things. This album is a rare exception.
Every track on this album is lovely, from the mind-blowing opening track (Hotel California - what else?!)to the soft, gentle melodic sarcasm of "The Last Resort".
If you love the guitar, then you'll go wild listening to "Life In The Fast Lane", "Victim Of Love" and, of course, "Hotel California" (which, probably, is the only song with a guitar solo that even non-guitarists can sing note for note.
For lovers of sweet melodies there's "New Kid In Town", "Wasted Time (Reprise included), "Try and Love Again", "Pretty Maids All In A Row", "The Last Resort" and, yes oh yes, Hotel California again (if you don't think this song has a great melody - get your ears checked).
There's something for every one on this album.
Johnny-Come-Lately, if you don't own this album already, shut down your PC and run to your nearest record store and buy it. Hold up the store if you don't have the cash (just kidding), but buy this album.
