hard to restart after cleaning

When I first bought the unit, it worked very well and I was satisfied. After the first few cleanings, the unit began to have problems. The cleaning instructions are very specific and although I followed them exactly, it is difficult if not nearly impossible to restart the unit after cleaning. Sometimes it takes me a week to get the unit working again. On my latest attempt, it took over a week!
