Blow Me Away Little Jet Plane... Umm I Mean Table Fan
Date of Review: Dec 17, 2007
The Bottom Line: If you can handle the noise.. this little Honey will blow you away.
Michigan summer gets hot. Not just hot but sticky-hot for a good three months out of the year. We have central air, but it is old and not energy efficient. Plus we really only need it about 2 weeks in June when summer really gets in full swing. The rest of the time we can usually keep the temperature down using fans. One of the best fans we have purchased is the Honeywell HT-800 Table Fan. This little thing puts out the air but is compact to fit on a table or dresser.
Blow Me Away
Our Honeywell Table Fan measures approximately 8" in diameter, has three and is constructed from heavy duty plastic. The slats that run across the front are rounded, following the circular shape of the fan, kind of like a vortex set-up. This design means the slats tend to be thicker, keeping curious little fingers safely away from the spinning blades. This is a major bonus since we usually use this in our son's room. The fan is supported by a sturdy, triangular base (approximately 8" on each side), which also allows it to pivot up and down depending on where you want the air directed. This little Honeywell can either sit on a flat surface or be mounted on the wall via a nail hole on the base. Equipped with three settings low, medium and jet plane - I mean high, this little beauty puts out some air for sure.
Watch Out for That Jet Plane... Oh Wait it's Just the Fan
Alright, so the first thing we noticed about this little fan is it is LOUD. In the lowest setting it is tolerable but I swear it sounds like there is a loud car running when it is on high. Normally it sits on a dresser or the floor. If it is placed on our hardwood floors, we usually need to place a t-shirt or towel underneath it to help buffer the sound. This is the only real downfall I would say this fan has. Now, My husband absolutely loves to fall asleep with white noise going. I had to break him of this habit since I do not. So he actually enjoys the noise of the fan.
As I stated now we tend to keep our Honeywell fan in Little Man's room during the summer months. The noise doesn't seem to bother him and it keeps him cool all night long on the lowest setting even if we turn it on or off after he has fallen asleep. It does collect fur since we have several animals, once it has been on for a while, but is fairly easy to clean by using a dusting cloth.
For a $20 purchase over three years ago, this little fan has proven itself summer after summer.
