Gets the job done with a bit of noise

Several things make this a good humidifier.
Nothing makes this a great humidifier.

This humidifier can be easily found in most any Walmart. It's not too expensive and it has a nice little remote control that lets you turn it on and off and adjust the mode and speed from across the room.

This device has 3 modes.
The first is a simple on mode. You select a speed lo , med, or hi and just let it go.

The second mode is a timer. You can set it to run for several hours and then shut off.

The third mode is a great concept but very in accurate. For this mode there is a built in humidistat. The concept of this mode is to run the humidifier until a certain % of humidity is reached and then it shuts off. Then when the humidity drops below this % it kicks back on.The problem is that the humidistat takes its reading right at the region of the humidifier where the air is coming out. It does not take very long to have the device satisfied with its humidity reading, and then it kicks off. The air in the rest of the room could be 30% and the air at the humidifier is 60% so it shuts off. So while its a great concept it does not work as it should.

If left on manualy or on the timer, this device will work well to humidify a room. However it is by no means silent. Its not a loud fan motor that is making the noise It's the wind rushing through the upper vent that creates most of the sound you hear. Its a tight enough grate that little kids will not get their fingers chopped off in the fan, but that comes at the price of hearing air rush through the small openings.

One thing I actually like about this as compared to other humidifiers is the large water capacity. It keeps you from having to refill as often. Also the system is virtually spill free. You fill up the container, close it off then just flip it over in the base. Simple.
Over all its not a bad buy. It gets the job done. It seems to be a safe and reliable device. Nothing jumps out as extraordinary but nothing jumps out as a red flag either.
Money well spent.
