2002 Honda Civic EX 4-door automatic sedan---Fabulous Car!

I bought a 2002 Honda Civic EX brand new and have had it for 6 years now. I purchased this car because the price was right ($16,500) and I wanted a reliable car that I could keep for many years. I purchased the EX which is the top of the line model. I chose the EX since the CD player and the sunroof were standard features. The EX also comes with anti-lock brakes and 15 inch wheels. My car has the optional front and side airbags as well. It has been a fabulous car for me. It is reliable, gets great gas mileage, is comfortable, and still has many more years of driving left! If you are reading this review, you are probably considering purchasing a used 2002 Honda Civic EX and would like to know what other Honda owners have to say about this car so here is my opinion.

What I love about this car:
This car is very reliable and durable. Honda has a great reputation and my car lives up to this reputation. I have replaced the tires and the battery once since owning it. Other than that, I have only gotten oil changes every 3,000 (or so) miles and have had all of the required maintenance done. It gets fabulous gas mileage (about 32 mpg) which is very important with the sky-high current gas prices.

This car has many features that I love. The odometer has a Trip A and Trip B setting which is very nice for long drives. I often use these settings, especially when travelling using "mapquest" or such directions that tell you exactly how many miles until the next turn. It also has a cruise control feature that I use on long trips or freeway driving. The back seat folds down in what they call a 60/40 split. This is very convenient for taking snowboards or other long equipment in the car. There are 2 cup holders in the front and one in the back and they actually hold every cup I have used in this car (unlike the VW Beetle that does not have enough room for even a standard water bottle.) The back seat does not have a hump or a bump on the floor so the 5th passenger will be very glad!

Cons about this car:
The cloth interior is coming off on the front passenger door. I don't know if other Hondas of this year had the same problem or if this was a defect in my specific car. I super-glued it back on and it been fine ever since.

What this car lacks...and I would like in my next vehicle:
-The 2002 Honda Civic only came in cloth interior. The new 2009 Civic EX comes in leather and has heated front seats.
-This car has a clicker to lock/unlock the car but it does not have remote trunk or gas access. Again, the 2009 model does!
-No heat/air controls or air ducts in the back seat which is very nice for your back seat passenger's comfort.
-Although it fits 5 passengers, this car is a bit small for 5 adults. There is plenty of headroom but it would not be comfortable for 5 people on a long drive.
