Author's Review

We were not really looking for another car, but as fate would have it, a deer caused an accident with our Subaru Legacy & it was a total loss. We had no choice but to look for a replacement. Other than the car being too small for me, I am 6ft 4in tall, we loved it. It did everything we asked of it. A used replacement in our budget was going to be a tough choice.

We test drove a used 2001 Nissan Maxima, very nice but way out of our price range. We then test drove a 2001 Honda Accord EXVL coupe. WOW what a ride, V6 power was very impressive, it handled extremely well, had every option you could want, Leather interior, power moon roof, power driver's seat a six speaker stereo with 6 CD in dash changer and cassette, a security system, an auto climate control where you set the desired temp you want in the car and it does the rest, power windows and door locks, 16” Alloy Wheels with 60 series Michelin tires, traction control, Home-link system to open your garage door openers, cruise control and many more nice interior features. We realty liked this car the ride was perfect; soft enough but not spongy. The seats were very comfortable, plenty of room for my long legs.It has controls on the steering wheel to adjust the radio and CD player/changer which were very convenient. The dashboard was laid out very nicely everything was easy to reach and identify. The brakes were 4 wheel disc ABS and stopped the car very well with little or no fading. The Trunk is huge with the nice feature of the back seats folding down so you can pass through the back seat from the trunk if need be.This car drives like a sports car 0 to 60 in 7 seconds with ease.Handles well in the turns with no lean very stable and flat.Very little road noise inside nice and quiet which surprised me.

We talked to the salesman but the price they wanted was still a little more than we were willing to spend so we walked away to look for another car. Later on that week we found and test drove a Chrysler 300M the price was right and the miles were low. I was expecting we would drive this car home, but once we test drove it I was very shocked and disappointed. It wasn’t the ride I thought it would be, It didn’t handle well, more road noise was noticeable than I thought it should have and for the size 3.5 liter V-6 engine. It didn’t have fast acceleration at all, was kind of sluggish and handled like it was a much larger car. After test- driving the Honda we were spoiled and this Chrysler 300M just didn’t compare at all.

We were running out of time as we needed a car for work so we returned to the Honda Dealer to see if we could make a deal on the car we test drove. We haggled and came to a price close enough to what we were willing to spend. So we drove home a 2001 Honda Accord EX V-6 Coupe. So far we are very satisfied with it, gas mileage is good 23.5 city and 30 highway. It only had 29000 miles on it so I am confident we wont have any major problems for a long time. If you are looking for a used car that has bulletproof dependability, and will hold its resale value, then Honda is the car for you. It’s a sure bet!
