I Drive One & Love It--Its Fun

by   AndyMattson ,  Feb 3, 2000
Pros: Great handling. Convenient. Fantastic MPG. Roomy.
Cons: Crappy Speakers. Don't get stuck with green.
Review: I gave up my BMW 3-series for this, and I have no regrets.

I was attracted to the Insight because it is a technological marvel. But, the best thing about it is that it's a blast to toss around in on a windy road.

The Insight runs on...

Surprisingly normal (updated on 3/28/01).

by   HawgWyld ,  Mar 9, 2001
Pros: No muss; no fuss; it feels, well, normal.
Cons: Two-seater; five-speed manual transmission only.
The Bottom Line: A true technological accomplishment. This thing feels like a conventional small car, but it's as high-tech as just about anything on the road.
Review: How does one describe the Honda Insight. Technologically advanced? Yep? Strange-looking? Yep. Limited in ability? Yep. Normal-feeling? Yep. Huh? Wait a minute!

That's right. This car drives and behaves like most other "conventional" small cars...

Finally -- A Reason to Come to Indiana!!

by   Sunliner ,  Jul 29, 2000
Pros: 71mpg!!; ULEV Status; Comfortable; Drives Like a Real Car; Everything but MPG Comes 2nd.
Cons: Not Overpowered; Only 2-Seats; Everything But MPG Comes 2nd.
The Bottom Line: Honda managed to keep the "I want more fru-fru" people at bay, and build a real milestone in the American automotive scene.
Review: To say that the Honda Insight is a hot car on the market would be an understatement. In California, Edmunds Automotive (the champions of the invoice-priced car) paid $1,682 above sticker price for their Insight. Honda dealers across the...

One solution to an impending problem

by   skyemoor ,  Feb 20, 2003
Pros: Fuel Economy, parking, handling, It's a Honda.
Cons: SUV owners won't look you in the eye...
The Bottom Line: In short, the Insight provides a pleasant means to reduce our foreign oil dependency, with little in the way of limitations.
Review: I had read about the Insight before it came out, and was trying to make up my mind between it and the Prius. Since most of my driving would be highway, the deciding factor was the Insight achieved 68 mpg highway and the Prius only 45 mpg.

Honda Insight -- FABULOUS

by   Flatworm ,  Oct 24, 2000
Pros: The best gas mileage in the world; always draws a crowd.
Cons: Only seats two; no cruise control.
Review: The Honda Insight is, at least at the time of this writing, a unique motor vehicle. It's a two-seat hatchback with a radical outward appearance somewhat reminiscent of an old SAAB 96 or even (for you REAL old-timers out there) a Kaiser Henry J. Some...

Closest thing to a spaceship!

by   chorobe ,  Mar 4, 2002
Pros: Good looks, great mileage, high-tech, peppy performance, sports car suspension, head-turner
Cons: Only a 2 seater, limited storage capability.
The Bottom Line: If you commute alot by yourself this is a perfect car. Why get a 4 seater when you're never going to seat 4?
Review: I think this is one of the coolest most high-tech cars you can get. And just because it has a small 1.0 3 cylinder engine, it has enough pep thanks to it's electric motor, to drive like a larger displacement 4 cylinder, ie. Honda Civics. This car...

A Breath of Fresh Air!

by   s.r.garfield ,  Feb 28, 2000
Pros: Acceleration, Handling, Economy, Price
Cons: Trunk space; Just a Two-Seater
Review: I'm driving a pre-production Honda Insight as the Pace Car in the Pasadena
Tournament of Roses Parade (TM) January 1, 2000. I test drove it this last
week. The model will be released for sale in the next couple of weeks. The
car, a sporty...

It Pay for Itself Over TIME!

by   BRIANWATKINS ,  Oct 14, 2000
Pros: The best in its Class!
Cons: It will change your Life a little.
Review: This car is what the future has for us. Almost no emissions and no plug-up needed. The look is based off the CRX. The most aero dynamic car in production. You can drive up too 700 miles on just one gas tank. The gas tank only holds 10.6 gallons at full....

2000 Honda Insight - A delightful alternative.

by   frytz ,  May 24, 2001
Pros: Excellent MPG, good acceleration, roomy and comfortable seating.
Cons: Right rear blindspot, right side gas fill.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for quality, fuel efficiency, FUN!
Review: I have had the Insight for 30 days now and have logged 2700 miles. My lifetime mpg is now 63. My best mileage trip (130 miles over mixed highway and rural roads) was 78.8 mpg. In normal driving overall I get 60-65 mpg. About 40% of my mileage comes...

A Remarkable Vehicle

by   pjm8x ,  Aug 18, 2000
Pros: Brilliant design and execution
Cons: A slightly rough ride
Review: My purchase of a Honda Insight was a result of extreme skepticism. My experience in renting or driving econoboxes has not been good, and I knew that Insight had some peculiar qualities, such as terminating the A/C compressor and/or defroster at...
