Every one has their dream car. The one that has everything one could ever imagine and all the extras that weren’t even planned. My dream car would have to be safe first and foremost. It needs to be able to drive where no regular car can go. It needs to have a good entertainment package and be able to fit all of my friends. In the four years I have been driving I have been looking for this car and I think I have come pretty close to it. The 2008 Honda pilot is an ideal car for anyone who wants to have a safe family friendly vehicle.

Just recently I convinced my mother to buy herself a Honda Pilot. I knew I do not have the kind of funds in order to have this vehicle, but I knew my parents afford to buy it for themselves. Now this may not be my car but I sure do get to drive it often which is just fine for me. I even knew so much about this vehicle that the dealership offered me a job. Now I didn’t convince her to buy this car just because I wanted it. I knew that it was a very safe vehicle and that it would be nice to have around for my two year old nephew. Also the winters here are cold and slick and I feel much safer now that we have a four wheel drive vehicle.

So Far So Good

We have had our 2008 Honda Pilot EX for about three months now and so far it has been great. It seems to be a pretty smooth ride and the V6 has the right amount of power for this family car. It has three rows of seating which has proved to be very nice since all my friends and family can fit. Even though the third row is a bit cramped you can scoot the second row forward to create more room for the back row. Even with eight people in the vehicle every one seems pretty safe. There are about eight air bags and all the seat belts go across the waist and the shoulder. This car also has four wheel drive which has been very handy here in Wyoming and to me makes the vehicle a lot safer.

Cons

As every one knows not everything is perfect. Now I really like this car but it does have its down sides. Since it is a SUV it has its regular blind spots in the back and some pretty big ones on the front window. Unfortunately the Honda Pilot’s are pretty big and can be a pain to deal with. Another disappointment was that the EX we bought doesn’t come with a standard back up sensor. We paid about 36,000 for this car; many of the new SUVS have back up sensors, and are less money. Another problem I have had with it is not starting properly. Now it has only happened to me twice but a couple times I could not get it to start on my first try. This is a new vehicle and should start the first time every time. Another down side is even though it is good for bigger families it does run up the gas bill. It gets pretty good gas mileage for a SUV but is still pretty spendy.

Hidden Features

The Honda Pilot surprises me every day. It is quite evident that they put a lot of thought into the things that most people wouldn’t think of. One of my favorite hidden features is the regular house outlet in the center console. This thing is great! If you need to charge your cell phone and don’t have a car charger you can still charge your phone. Another feature I like is the hidden seat belts. The center seat belt for the second row and all the seat belts for the third row stay hidden and out of the way. They have a system where you just unhook them and they hook into the ceiling. This vehicle also has many cup holders and it even has multiple ones for the last row. Another great feature is the storage space. In the very back there is storage where you can put the third row head rests in. This can also be a handy place for fishing poles. The system for folding down the seats is very easy and user friendly also.

I love it because I can fit many of my friends in there and if I need to go shopping it takes no effort to make room for groceries. Another great feature is the rear temperature control. I think this is a great idea but unfortunately it is very touchy. It takes the owner a while to figure out the certain modes you have to have the front controls in before they can change it in the back.
Another nice feature is the heated seats. I love having heated seats but these ones have proven to be not of the best quality. Sometimes when I go out and start the car they don’t heat up very warm and others times they warm up just fine. Each time I make sure they are on and I let the car warm up for about the same time. The DVD player is nice but the screen is very small for the price we paid. The sound system is also very nice, but the subwoofer is on the right back side and often deafens the passengers in the back.

So far the Honda Pilot has proven to me that it is a great family car. I can fit all of my friends and even watch a movie with them. I can also go on a really comfortable road trip with my parents. I feel this vehicle is very safe and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants safety and comfort from their vehicle.
