Soothing alarm clock
Date of Review: Nov 11, 2007
The Bottom Line: If you want a projection clock with extra features, then this is perfect for you.
This is the second projection clock I have owned. My first one broke and I selected this one because it projects the time on the ceiling in blue instead of red. The blue is much more soothing.
I love having a projection clock because when I wake up in the middle of the night, I want to know what time it is (everyone does). I feel like I am more likely to fall back asleep if I don't move. With a projection clock, all you do is open your eyes.
I also love having a radio connection to the atomic clock that automatically sets the time. It's great not to have to reset your clock for every time the power goes out. On this clock there have been some errors. I have found the time messed up at times. I f you touch the clock in the dark, you can change the time zone by accident and that is a problem. It also seems to take longer for the atomic time to set the time than in my previous (radio shack) clock.
There some added features on this clock. One is the temperature display. There is a remote device that allows you to measure the outside temperature. It shows this and the inside temp on the dial. It also projects the outdoor temp on the ceiling. This is useful and little intimidating in the middle of the night in the winter time. When you can tell it is below zero outside, you never want to get out of bed.
The soothing sound are nice. There are six selections. All the sounds are pleasant. I find waterfall and rain and the most useful for blocking out other noise. They are the closest to white noise.
It has a radio as well. It works as well as can be expected for a small clock radio.
I have tried all the features of this clock but, I rarely use the nature sounds or the radio. I haven't ever used the radio for its own sake. I have used the radio as an alarm, but I get worried that it won't be enough to wake me.
It is made of gray plastic. The LCD display is basic black digital against gray background. When your room is dim it can hard to see the display and hard to see projected time. Overall the looks are boring and unstylish. In clocks, I personally prefer a old fashion or retro look. It looks like a plastic alarm clock, and doesn't add anything to your decor. It could match an ultra modern look, but it is still cheapo plastic. What I mean to say is that I like to look a clock face with hands. Do you think that they would every make one that looked like a regular clock on the outside and projected the time with atomic clock set? Silly I guess. I am saying that I love the features of this clock, but it is not much to look at.
