Holmes Quartz heater a winner
Pros:
Relatively low cost. Very easy to operate. Very effective. First rate safety features.
Cons:
None observed.
The Bottom Line:
I recommend this heater for any larger indoor area. This is a high performance unit. It is overkill for smaller areas.

With rising natural gas costs, my wife and I decided to supplement our heating with electric space heaters. One of our purchases was the Holmes model HQH319.
This heater has dual quartz elements, and a one button thermostat in 5 degree increments. There is a high and low power setting. The single button controls power, high and low power settings, and temperature settings.
With a cost of about $35, this is a fairly decent priced unit for the heat output and efficiency it provides.
We use it to heat our living room. When it is in the 20s or so, the room still can get rather chilly. This isn't a problem, as our furnace then can be used to make up the difference. If the outdoor temperature rises to the 30s, the room can get quite warm with just the space heater. Our living room is large, and adjoins our dining room. Add a picture window and sliding glass door for heat loss, no single space heater will keep the place warm on its own on very cold days.
If this heater were to be used in a smaller room, such as a bedroom, the thermostat would come into play. I believe it would be overkill to use this heater in a small bedroom.
The heater has tip-over protection. If bumped by our daughter, it also shuts off. Very safe. In addition, if it were to overheat, it would shut down. It also has a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.
In closing, I believe this is the best space heater I have ever used.
