Author's Review

I bought my Pavilion in April of 06, and absolutely loved it. I used it to run a small business, and it worked great until December 31. When I turned it on that day, everything lit up but the screen, which remained dark. You could not hear it load or the fan run. I called tech support and struggled through a very difficult conversation with someone in India. After I had to practically take the thing apart, he finally decided it was broken. They quickly sent me a box & off it went. One week later it was back, but not repaired. The tech people actually told me that they thought that another computer's repair info was put on my service ticket, and that my box was never opened! So, back it went. It was in repair for 5 weeks, but the motherboard was on back order, and they had NO idea when it would be repaired. They offered my a "reconditioned" unit as a replacement, which I declined.
HP tech support is horrible. Their case managers do not return calls, their support people do not communicate with each other-incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We finally agreed on a full refund, and the case manager I worked with said she would try to get my hard drive back to me to retrieve some of the info, two days ago, they actually sent the laptop back without the hard drive!
I got a refund check today, and bought a Toshiba!
