Great little photo printer

I wanted a small photo printer to use to make smaller pictures to stick in letters to the family and use in my scrapping crafts. The HP Photosmart A616 turned out to be perfect. It is very small, so it hardly takes any space on the desk. When you open the front panel (so the paper can come out), the top picture viewer screen pops up also. This is a nice convenience factor. When you are done, you can just push down the picture viewer and close the front.

The pictures come out great from the computer or directly off the card. The only time I had a color balance issue was when I was running low on ink. The pictures come out virtually dry. This is a great bonus compared to my normal ink jet printer. With the ink jet, I had to wait a few minutes before I could even touch the pictures with out smudging them.

The on-board print menu is very easy to use. In fact, I find it easier than the print software on my computer. You have the option to select what photos you would like to print. You can also select multiple prints of a single photo. Then you can select how many pictures you want to put on one piece of paper.

I use the HP 4x6 and 5x7 photo paper. The prints come out great and practically dry. The HP photo paper has a code on the back that the printer can read and recognize what size it is. This is a great auto feature. If I select four photos to print on one paper, the printer is smart enough to resize them all to fit on the HP photo paper I have inserted.

The software that comes with it is easy to use. I have tried both the PC and apple versions. The PC version is a bit smoother. The controls are a little more understandable. The apple version has the same features, I just had to use the help menu to figure out how to put multiple photos on one paper.
