Nothing But Junk

The Bottom Line: I would not recommend the printer or the company.
My husband bought me this printer for Christmas and he paid approximately $400. It scans, faxes, prints, copies and does beautiful photos. It's used at home by myself only so it doesn't get abused. About 3 months ago I had to take it to the shop because the paper would not feed, it cost me $45. but they did fix it. Just the other day I was printing about 10 photos and it just stopped and showed an error in the window. I looked up the error # in the book and did everything it said and nothing worked. I had just replaced a cartridge and thought maybe that was it so I put another new one in. That did not fix the problem so I called the toll free number in the manual and they told me it was not fixable. I was stunned. I emailed HP from their website and they tried several things and nothing worked and then they finally told me it was not fixable.
I don't think approximately 1 year of minimal use is good for a printer that costs that much.
The company offered me refurbished units for $299.99 which is only $100 less than a new one. Of course I don't want another HP product and asked if they would refund me a prorated amount by usage. I didn't want to be unfair but they refused me that offer. The only thing they will do is make me pay for a printer that may or may not work.
I'm very disappointed in this product and would not recommend the printer or the company to anyone at this time. I have dealt with other companies which have replaced an item just to please the customer but this company is not customer friendly.

UPDATE: They finally replaced the printer about a month ago at no cost at all. Now the new replacement had the paper not feeding problem just like the first printer. I called them and they sent me a cleaning kit overnite and I inserted it in the printer and when it came time to remove it, naturally it jammed and they couldn't tell me how to remove it so now they are going to send me another printer. They said it would be a different printer because they are not making the original style because they had too many problems with the model. I could have told them that. They will be overnighting the new printer so we will see how good this one (the 3rd printer) will work and for how long. I have spent entirely too much money and time with this company.
