Excellent Design and value for the money....

Having been a electronics hardware design engineer I have a pretty high standard for a product to meet. I owned a HP R80 multifunction from 1999 to 2004 and it worked great for my small business and I worked it hard. I was concerned about HP's newest devices, in particular the HP7310 since I had heard of problems in quality and design for other versions (newer than my R80). I decided after looking at the other vendors products to try HP again and chose the excellent HP7310. I have used it in my business now for 6 months and have been very, very impressed with what this little printer can do! I am also equally impressed with the software package that came with the printer and allows it have have such high functionality. The only problems I have experienced are software bugs in the printer driver (am running WinXP Pro SP2, all updates) in that sometimes a fax sent out using the flatbed will be received as a mirror image (very strange). HP's tech support suggested a special reset of the unit (which unfortunally whips out the group fax settings) fixed the unit for now. Also, I frequently use two-sided printing and faxing modes to save paper and have found it to hiccup at times and only fax in single sided mode if I am faxing to a group speed dial (single sided fax is the default setting) and have set for that fax session that my orginals are two-sided. I would expect these software driver bugs to get worked out over the next few months (HINT, HINT HP!!) and since the software package does an auto-update, I don't have to worry about installing the corrected versions when released. I paid $240 at Office Max for the unit (on Christmas special at the time) and did buy the MaxPerks warranty just in case I was not satisified or had major problems.
I highly recommend you consider this unit or it's big brother the HP7410. HP has a clear winner on it's hands with this little bugger!
BTW: I use InkTec black and color refill kits which work just fine for me so far (photo printing included).
