One of the best pre-configured PCs on the market today
Date of Review: Jul 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great PC for very reasonable price (Q6600 Core 2 Quad CPU itself retails for around $500.00 so do the math).
Well this is my 3rd desktop PC and I'm absolutely happy with it. The first thing I done after turning it on was re-configuring hard drives to RAID 0 array for 2x data transfer rate performance; I have also re-installed Windows Vista from scratch (you will need your own Vista installation DVD if you want to install "clean" OS and remove all those cheap junk games, antivirus software, trials and so on). Windows Update has all the drivers necessary for this PC (even TV tuner drivers and wireless network card drivers) so you will not have to worry about this. Honestly, I didn't expect to find much difference between dual-core and quad-core machines, but I was wrong. Let me tell you, this PC rocks! You can do anything - for example, encode high definition video and create large archive file at the same time and you will never notice any performance issues. This computer will still response to your mouse clicks, etc. in no time! I'm not a gamer so the pre-installed graphics card (GeForce 7350LE with 128Mb dedicated memory and Turbo Cache technology) is good enough for me, however, if you want to play modern 3-D shooters, you will have to buy a more advanced PCI-E card. Also, there is no need to buy expensive high quality speakers if you want to use onboard sound (Realtek HD 8 channels). It's not that bad but you must understand that you will not improve sound quality this way. For high quality speakers, you will need to upgrade sound card.
