Hewlett Packard DESKJET D4260 InkJet Printer

Used with:  Dell XPS 1530 with Windows Vista

My father purchased the family HP Deskjet D4260 primarily for student use-- printing papers, the occasional graphics, and web pages.  As a printer performing basic printing tasks, it's fantastic.  It's relatively speedy, spitting out black and white pages without hesitation.  The photographic quality of the printer is also quite good-- although we've never substituted in a photo cartridge-- but not astoundingly stellar.  This could merely be Windows Vista fouling up the printer software, but I had to reinstall the printer software after the printer showed some signs of long pauses while printing and spitting out grossly miscolored documents.  The installation files never fully executed on the second install, so I don't know if this is a flaw on behalf of HP or Windows Vista.  Otherwise, the printer is a good value.
