This HP & XP compatible as can be

The Bottom Line: This is an excellent investment at a budget-wise price, compatible with XP and reliable for a small business.
When I looked at purchasing this printer in April I was wary; it had been on the shelves only a couple of weeks. I wondered if the bugs were worked out of it, and whether it would be compatible with XP. My other printers had problems with this.
However, the HP LaserJet 1300 has had no problems running with XP and prints clearly and quickly every time.
It took 20 minutes to get this printer up and running, because the pictures in the little fold-out manual seemed a little unclear. However, most people might have very little trouble with this -- I fit more on the mechanically-challenged end of the spectrum.
The nice black and white pages are very crisp; it spits out one page in the time it takes to say "Jack Robinson" 4 times (8 seconds). (Okay, if you are a Spurs fan, you can say, "David Robinson.")
Space-wise, it takes up about half of a top of a file cabinet. Budget-wise, it makes so much sense; it's not at the very bottom, but it's still an affordable investment. There are no little extra bells or whistles or software extras in this no-nonsense, dependable printer, and that's fine with me. IT WORKS.
