I'm diggin' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

by   updateghost , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Nov 23, 2005
Pros: Direction. Casting. Acting.
Cons: None. Leaves out trivial subplots?
The Bottom Line: is in love with Emma Watson.
Review: Universally, critics are saying, "DAYAMN, dos' Harry Potta movies jus' keep gettin' betta an' betta!" I guess I'm here to ruin their fun, but not how you'd expect----the first one (Sorcerer's Stone) was really good. The ...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The Most Human Harry Potter Film Yet

by   befus ,  Nov 29, 2005
Pros: Judicious editing of complicated plot; fine acting overall; some lovely moments added
Cons: Still some plot confusion; fizzled ending; Michael Gambon
The Bottom Line: Mike Newell has delivered the most watchable and human Harry Potter film yet.
Review: It can be difficult viewing a film version of a beloved book, especially a book you know well. And if it's a challenge to view such a film, I can only hazard a guess at the complexity of bringing such a film to the screen, especially when you know said ...

Goblet of Fire Has Me All Fired Up For More Harry

by   bilbopooh ,  Jan 20, 2007
Pros: packed with wonderful moments great and small, most of the cast
Cons: so much had to be cut, Michael Gambon
The Bottom Line: Raise your glass for the glory of Goblet!
Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows comes out this year. I hope. Profusely. Of course, once it does, that means there will be no more Harry Potter books left, and I will most likely find myself in a state of depression after I finish the ...

Harry Brings Da’ Heat in the Goblet of Fire

by   Rock_On ,  Nov 21, 2005
Pros: gave me funny feelings through my body, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, more comical
Cons: things cut and switched around, Michael Gambon jumping outside of Dumbledore's character
The Bottom Line: Book reader or no book reader, go see the Goblet of Fire.
Review: You know that feeling when you’re so excited about a movie coming out in theaters that you get this cold chill like sensation running through your body as you’re sitting in your seat? Like in the opening scene you just feel like you’re there ...

People die in this tournament!!!

by   carl_lazarevic , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Nov 18, 2005
Pros: Cast, Writing, Action
Cons: Some of the kids in smaller roles look bored
The Bottom Line: With the sinister tone, superb action, and tighter plotting, The Goblet Of Fire is currently the best film in the series to date.
Review: Over the years the Harry Potter films have had something of an uneven following with the over 15's crowd. Fans of the books generally love them for the way they bring the magic of the books to the silver screen, wheras none fans generally remain so due ...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

by   beaniqueenie4 ,  Nov 23, 2005
Pros: I loved the movie everything was great
Cons: some of the things from the book were taken out, but that is expected.
The Bottom Line: I think everyone should see it, the movie was great!
Review: Whoosh, oh what was that? Oh I know what that was; it was the new Harry Potter movie sweeping me off my feet! Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was an exciting movie filled with energy. I went to the Imax movie theater yesterday with my uncle and ...

The Goblet of Fire Rocks!

by   jc_hall ,  Dec 15, 2005
Pros: amazing CGI effects, especially the dragon and the mercreatures; Daniel Radcliffe
Cons: so much had to be cut from the book
The Bottom Line: Goblet of Fire rocks! Go see it if you haven't already, but don’t take the younger kids as it gets very dark and scary towards the end.
Review: It may seem redundant to post the umpteenth review of HP and the Goblet of Fire, but the heck with it, I can’t resist! It’s possibly the best movie I’ve watched this year (my husband disagrees, his vote is for Narnia). I’ve watched all ...

You-Know-Who is back!

by   judy_lind ,  Nov 18, 2005
Pros: Keeps close to the book, good cast, excellent direction and action sequences.
Cons: We don't see enough of Snape in this one.
The Bottom Line: Newell does a great job of compressing a 700-page book into a two-hour movie and keeping everything of substance in the plot.
Review: After seeing the slice-and-dice job that Alberto Cuaron did on the third Harry Potter film, I went to see "Goblet of Fire" with some trepidation, wondering just how much Mike Newell had cut out of the book. Well, there are some sizeable cuts indeed, ...

Dark Wizards and Dark Deeds; Harry Potter is tested in The Goblet of Fire.

by   talyseon ,  Jun 1, 2008
Pros: Brilliantly done movie, focusing very much on Harry.
Cons: Cut the book to ribbons, its a Reader's Digest Condensed Story.
The Bottom Line: I'm amazed this movie turned out as well as it did. It is about half the book, but still, delivers on all levels.
Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) Directed by Mike Newell. This is the point where the books just flat out grew the medium of movies. There was considerable talk about breaking this movie into two, but Mike Newell, the first English ...

Dragons, Mermaids and a Goblet full of Evil!

by   saritadutta ,  Nov 19, 2005
Pros: Dan, the direction, CGI, Supporting Cast and Ralph Fiennes
Cons: Not much (unless you consider editing of minor details); we miss John Williams
The Bottom Line: The Potter charm once again unveils itself in this fourth movie.
Review: Confession: I am a huge fan of the HP books and of Dan Radcliffe. That said I had mixed expectations from the fourth movie, because honestly Prisoners of Azkaban did not appeal much to me (considering it is one of the best book of ...
