<c>Happy Gilmore</b> is the funniest movie I have ever seen. Adam Sandler portray's Happy Gilmore, an Ice Hockey Player, wanna be. Every since he was just a little boy he has loved hockey, the only problem was, he didn't skate too well.
When he was just a little boy, his mother left him and his father and went to live in Egypt. Then when he was around 9 or so, his father died, and he was sent to live with his grandmother. At first he was scared and didn't want to live there, but he soon came to love her very much and changed his mind.
He developed a very short temper, which became a big problem with him. He tried and tried to make different hockey teams, although he had a powerful lone drive, his short temper and skating inability, always got in his way. Once he graduated high school, he held many jobs, but lost them because of he goofed off too much.
His girlfriend had enough and left him telling him that she wasn't going to spend the rest of her life with a loser. The day after she left, he went to visit his grandmother, to find out that she owed a lot of money in back taxes, and the government was taking her home and all its contents. Of course Happy loses his temper with the guy in charge and breaks some things up.
He is told that he has 90 days to come up with the tax money and he can get the house back. Till then he tells his grandmother that she can live with him. She refuses and opts to go to a retirement home, saying that he needs his space.
In the mean time, he vows to come up with the money no matter what it takes. When someone makes a comment on his long drive, about being a golf player, it gives him an idea. He goes to the local golf course and make bets with players that no one can out drive him. He wins each time and makes a little cash. While there a retired golf pro Chubs Peterson, see's his abilities and confronts him about joining the golf opening, to win a spot on a pro tour.
Happy laughs in his face and starts to drive away, until Chubs mentions money, big bucks. Happy decides to give it a try because he is trying to make the money to get his grandmothers house back.
At the open, he meets the most arrogant, self centered man, Shooter McGavin(portrayed by: Christopher McDonald). He was golf pro who thought he was the best of the best. He also met Virginia Bennet (portrayed by: Julie Bowen), she was in charge of public relations for the pro tour.
During the open Happy showed his hard drive abilities, by getting a hole in one on a par 4. But he also showed his inability to putt, and when an on looker made a sarcastic comment, he beat him up. His silly antics and fowl language made him an instant hit. The crowd loved him. To Shooter's dismay, Happy won the open, filling the last spot on the pro tour.
During the tour, Happy did many crazy things, he beat up many on lookers, killed an alligator, and many more. But I must say that one of my favorite parts was when during the celebrity part of the tour, each player was teamed up with a celebrity. Happy was teamed up with Bob Barker. Things started out all wrong, prior to this day, Happy almost got kicked off the tour due to his short temper. Virginia, talked them into letting him stay and that she would keep him under control. So on the day of the celebrity tournament, Shooter, wanting to see Happy kicked off the tour, paid a man to torment Happy. He stood in the audience and made snide remarks, which made Happy very nervous, knowing he couldn't react.
He started making all kinds of mistakes, and Bob Barker was getting a little upset. Things were okay till Bob made a comment about there being no possible way that Happy could be a worse hockey player than a golfer. That was it. Happy punched Bob and knocked him down. Bob got up a fought back, they were cursing at each other while knocking the daylights out of each other. Bob got the better of Happy. Now just picture Bob Barker in a fist fight and cursing someone out, that is a sight.
He finally earned enough money to get his grandmothers house back, but when he got there to pay it, they were in the middle of auctioning it off. But the bids were low, so he thought he had a chance, till someone down front bid much more money than happy had. Guess who that was? You guessed it, Shooter McGavin. Shooter said that Happy could have the house back if he dropped out of the tour. At first he agreed, till Virginia, talked him into making a different deal with Shooter. He tells Shooter that if he lost at the next tournament he would leave, but if he beat Shooter, then he got the house.
I don't want to give the whole movie away, so I will stop here, and let you see it for yourself. You will laugh so hard, you will be falling off your seat. I recommend this movie for a good laugh. Though it is PG-13 and not suitable for young children because there is a lot of foul language in this movie.
