Author's Review
This album, not Phish's latest or greatest, is a good example of how they sound in concert. the quality can't be beat, as it comes directly from paul's soundboard. the disks (6) cover 2 nites of phish during 1998, it incluedes many regular phish covers (roses are free, axis bold as love) but also has some funny new ones, like jettin jiggy wit it (will smith) and tubthumpin' by chumcawumba. in the "great music to play while section, i would say "smokin' a fat joint" but that is not an option, sadly. there are lots of songs on these CD's, and some great live versions. some disks are better than others, the best being the one with sabatage-- > mikes --> simple--> the wedge --> the mango song -->free --> ha ha ha -->free-->weekapaug-->tubthumpin. preceed a mike's groove with a phatty Beastie boys cover, and end it with a hilarious cover.
did i mention Fishman plays the vacuume during gettin jiggy wit it? well, he does. my recomendation to a newbie would be buy it, support the guys, enjoy a live recording with great quality. i would say buy this if youve never heard phish before, because it shows some jams, not their best, but pretty damb good. for those experienced phisheads, just trade, it costs about $50 less. peace
