And they call me a newbie...

A newbie, that is what I would be considered to people that idolize the band Phish. I go to maybe two shows a year and I only own the albums they sell at Best Buy. I wanted to share what this album did for the process of me becoming a fan of Phish. I had heard a couple albums before this but as everyone knows, Phish is known as a live band. Roves of people follow them across the country just to hear there music and dance the night away. So with this album a six disc two night set from Hampton, you get to hear what gives these guys their legacy.

Some of the tracks I have grown to love and can honestly say I don't know what original album they are from. "Roses are Free", "Bathtub Gin", "Cavern", and "Wilson" are some examples of songs that you feel the synergy between the band and the crowd. They do covers of the Beastie Boys "Sabotage", and Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy with It".

Overall at the price I would have to say grab this set if you are already somewhat familiar with Phish, not someone who knows them from the radio songs. I know a lot of people who enjoy Phish's music, but I also know a fair amount of people that can't stand it. So I wouldn't recommend it as a first purchase but if you are at least a fan of some of the deeper tracks then this would be a good thing to ask for around birthday or Christmas time. Just don't spill your bong water on it.
