When I was growing up, I remember my Mom having this huge electric skillet which she used to cook things like pancakes and meatballs in. She only used it maybe once a month but I do remember she said it made her life a lot easier and that she recommended me getting one when I got married.
Well, after I started my own family, I tried going without an electric skillet and found that I really missed using my Mom's. So, after an exhaustive search, I came across this wonderful product.
First of all, I think the greatest thing about this skillet is the fact that it was so smartly designed. The pan and lid are not only very light weight and incredibly easy to clean and maintain but easy to store due to the included storage rack. The pan itself has really nice, large handles which make it easy to carry to the table when it's hot. The base unit has nice rubber feet which grip the countertop nicely, so there's no worry of having any accidents. The temperature dial has a nice slider with two readings: one set for when the skillet is being used and one for when you're using just the griddle. Finally, the cord can be wrapped up on the underside of the base unit for easy storage.
Complaints:
1. The temperature dial's painted on readings seem to rub off and fade way too easily. I've had this product for almost two and a half years and mine are almost completely faded!
2. The base unit is sort of difficult to clean because the gap between the heating surface and the base part where the heating element is. When cooking saucy dishes - meat balls for one - or using the griddle for cooking pancakes or french toast, some of the sauce/batter gets into that space and is kind of difficult to get out.
Overall, I love this product and I can not say enough about it!
