Hamilton Beach MealMaker Express Contact Grill 25285
Date of Review: Jun 6, 2002
The Bottom Line: Super easy to clean, with the timer, cooking is almost foolproof, and the overall design of this grill is excellent, very user friendly, and good looking too.
Wife and I were looking for a grill like the Foreman type but were never able to find one we really liked. They were either too big,too small or too expensive and appeared to be difficult to clean. Back in March on a shopping trip out of town we ran across the Hamilton Beach model 25285. We liked the design, the size, the fact that it had a timer and most of all, the grills could be removed for easy cleaning. We decided to purchase this model and we have never regretted it. We use it almost daily for quick burgers, chicken, grilled sandwiches, almost anything you would grill on the grill outside. We were amazed at the amount of grease that comes off the food especially the burgers.
We liked it so much we just got one for a niece that is getting married soon.
On another note the store we went to,has a hard time keeping these units in stock, they sell quickly.
The cooking area is 10"x6" with the top closed. You can cook on both sides with the top open. Cooking is done by the timer provided, and the recipe book is very helpful. For example, hamburger done in approximately 5 to 7 minutes, and orange glazed pork chops in 6 minutes.
In most cases the serving portion is 2. If you have a larger family, look to the larger model.
Updated August 05. The piece of red plastic that covers the light broke. A little glue and problem solved.
