Wonderful Slow Cooker!

I really like my slow cooker. It makes cooking so easy. Set it in the morning - go to work or get errands done and by the time dinnertime rolls around you will have a great healthy meal.

I have heard nothing but good about the Hamilton Beach 6.5 Quart MealMaker Oval Slow Cooker and that along with the fact that it came with a carrying case is why I choose this particular model. I have seen the carrying case sold separately for about $15. The case and the lid latch makes it easy to transport port your slow cooker to parties without the fear of having all of you food all over your car (I have heard of quite a few people that have had their slow cooker fall in their car - boy what a clean up that would be).


FEATURES:

The Base - has a nice design on it so you can leave it on your counter is you would like and not have it be an eye sore. The outside does get somewhat hot so make sure not to get little hands or your hands for that matter anywhere near it. It has three heat settings: high, low and keep warm

The Crock - is safe in the microwave and is oven proof. I can see this fitting in your oven without a problem, but you would need an awful big microwave to fit the crock inside of it. The bottom is rough so take caution not to scratch up counters and sinks. It also cleans up really easy.

The removable crock:

** 1. I find that it makes preparing the meal the night before really easy. In the morning all you have to do is take it out of the refrigerator and place it in the base and then turn it on. By the time you get home for work you will have a meal waiting for you, not you waiting on the meal to be done. If you are like my husband and me, by the time you get home from work you are hungry and the last thing you would want to do is slave over a hot stove and have to wait about 45 minutes to an hour for dinner.

** 2. It makes clean up really easy. I remove the crock from the base and let it cool. I then let it soak for about one hour and it cleans up without a struggle.

Glass Cover - makes it easy to see what you are cooking.

Lid Latch - secures cover while transporting or storing the slow cooker.

Carrying Case - used to transport or store the slow cooker. Use lid latch first then place your slow cooker into carrying case. The case has openings for the handles which makes it easy to carry. It can be hand washed if needed.

Recipe Book - has some really good recipes in it, but I find the internet a better place to find recipes for your slow cooker.

WARNING: I find the crock to be a little on the heavy side and when you add your food to it, it will only get heavier. So just be prepared when you go to lift it.

I do think that this would make a great gift for just about anyone and for any occasion.
