Author's Review
I do know wines and what they should be chilled to. (alluding to previous reviewer)
I am on my second unit and it doesn't get below 59 degrees. I received the first unit for Christmas last year. I never felt that white wine was cool enough in it. I purchased a thermometer to put inside and it wouldn't go below 59 degrees on the coldest setting. It took me a while to find a number to call to ask what the temperature range it should cool to was. The Haier rep told me 45 for white wine and 55-65 for red. The rep also suggested that it wasn't cooling because I probably had it next to other appliances. I have a bar room with no appliances and barely ever turn the light on. It is not stored near any other appliances, so it is not affected by that heat.I could send it back being I was calling within a year, however, it was a gift and being I didn't have receipt, I couldn't send it back, so I bought a replacement. I was excited to get the second unit, with hopes that it would work correctly. Took extra care in setting it up and leveling it, etc. Stuck the thermometer in it and waited the 24 hours to see how it cooled. It never got below 59 degrees on coldest setting. It currently is cold outside, and I have the inside temp. at 66-68 and it still won't go below 59 degrees on the coldest setting. The reps at Haier act like they have never heard this problem, and it must be something in the room to make it not be cold. I even sat it on the floor to make sure there was enough ventilation around it, thinking it was because I had it on countertop, underneath cabinets, but it still wouldn't get colder than 59 degrees. I have no confidence that this model works appropriately.
