Author's Review
I am very pleased with the features and quality of vehicle for the money. The ride is relatively quiet (I drove a Honda Civic prior to this which was not a quiet ride). The reliability has been great so far. I was concerned with moving from my extremely reliable Civic to a Tucson which I was not as familiar with. I never had my Civic in the shop and was worried that I would end up with a vehicle that wasted all my time and money needing to be fixed. Thankfully, my Tucson is not that vehicle. I have only had it in the shop once, and that was for a really unusual problem. There were some papers in the glove box that were sucked into the fan resulting in a loud rustling noise. It was an easy fix. The only other annoyance is that if you dont shut the gas cap tightly, the check engine light comes on. A more serious problem is that the heater doesnt seem to be functioning properly. No matter what setting I set it on, the heat comes out at full force in both the floor and defrost vents. It is a major inconvenience to me that the Tucson dealership is located about 40 miles from where I work, so that makes it hard to find time to have this problem looked at. Since it doesnt affect the drivability of the vehicle, I continue to put the service call off. On the positive side, I especially like my heated leather seats and sun roof. The back seats fold down all the way for easy storage. I also like that I can put just half of the second seat down. This configuration is especially helpful for transporting more than two people plus cargo. The vehicles esp and 4 wheel drive really help with driving in inclement weather. I live in Wisconsin where it is often raining, snowing, or sleeting. Ive never gotten my Tucson stuck in the snow or mud. It also handles well on icy roads. There are two compartments in the center console. A shallow one on top that is perfect for storing makeup and other smaller items, and a larger compartment below. There are two cup holders. One is slightly larger than the other. However, they are not expandable and do not fit the largest drinks, like my Nalgene water bottle. Overall, I am very pleased with my Tucson and plan on driving it for many years to come.
