Are you ready for the Syndicate?
Date of Review: Jul 8, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for new racing game for your PC, pick this up!
Street Racing Syndicate offers a nice refreshing experience to all of the those "Street racing type" games out there.
Street Racing Syndicate offers three main game modes, which include: Street Mode (My favorite), Arcade Mode, and Multiplayer.
Street Mode acts as a career-type adventure comprised of 72 races, 20 challenge races, 50 different cars to collect and tune to your heart's desire, 18 virtual girlfriends, and 52 videos of your virtual girlfriends dancing in suggestive outfits to various songs. Each virtual girlfriend has 3 videos, expect for one girl which only has one video. Which is kind of odd, but not a big deal.
The first video of each girl is usually only mildly suggestive, then the second video offers an even more suggestive outfit, and the third video offers either a very suggestive outfit or the girl in a bikini.
Each video is done very nicely and each is of very high quality. The video lengths vary from 20 seconds to some lasting beyond a minute. I really enjoyed the videos and I actually wanted to watch them more than once.
The videos are only suggestive, they do not contain any nudity, so parents need not worry too much about this aspect of the game. Although, I do believe the T rating is more than justified here.
The street mode is fun and fast-paced with exciting challenges. The races are a good length, not too short, but not overly long either. When you tire of racing, you can roam the virtual city looking for street challenges, girl friends, and (best of all) running from the police!
The police A.I. offers a good challenge each time without being impossible to beat. That doesn't mean they will go easy on you though. It's a lot fun and offers even more to the game. If they catch you how ever, be prepared to pay!
I've acquired warnings to fines ranging beyond $1000 in this game! The police in this game are very serious about catching speeders! So beware!
You'll be playing for months just trying to get 100% complete in street mode, but you'll definitely have fun doing it.
Arcade mode offers four different racing types: Quick race, Checkpoint, Iron Man, and Speed Trial.
The player chooses one of the four modes, picks his car and track, and is ready to race.
Quick race allows you to race with any unlocked car on any unlocked track.
Checkpoint has you competing in a time-based race where you must reach each checkpoint in the allowed time.
Iron Man has you playing in a series of progressively harder races.
Speed Trial has you competing for the best time on each track.
Multiplayer is for two to four players over the Internet.
The multiplayer mode offers a lot to the game and is a lot of fun. While playing online, I didn't experience any lag or cheaters, which was nice!
The graphics in this version are very slick and nice, they are even better than the console versions of Street Racing Syndicate. The roads, scenery, cars, and girls are all nice to look at.
The soundtrack includes rock, rap, hip-hop, and dance tracks too. The rock songs are the best. The rap and hip-hop tracks contain some language, but nothing extreme.
The dance tracks don't have any lyrics, but are still cool though.
The cars sound just like the real thing and the voice acting is done very well and actually sounds realistic.
Street Racing Syndicate offers a lot and you can get it for under $20 bucks which is really a good deal. It is a blast to play and I really enjoy all this game has to offer.
What made this game so refreshing for me was the virtual girlfriends. The way they react to your wins or losses is pretty cool. The videos justify the virtual girlfriends and add more value to an already awesome game!
If you enjoy racing games, you should buy this!
