Product Review

We threw ours in the garbage

by   kcadnas ,   Sep 25, 2006

Pros:  The concept is great and it looks wonderful. wall mounted, it takes up zero space.

Cons:  It didn't work.

The Bottom Line:  My final recommendation is don't waste your money. It doesn't work.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

because that's where it belongs. We moved our son's bedroom downstairs to the finished basement and his room doesn't have a heat vent. It's a small room with a bunch of furniture plus a trundle bed. The only option was a space heater and I don't feel good about space heaters in my son's room because you can't trust kids not to toss their jeans or socks or something onto the heater. I found this Soleus heater and having the wall mount option seemed PERFECT. There would be room for the trundle to roll out and I wouldn't have to worry about them starting a fire by throwing something over the heater.

The room is 250 sq.ft. and the heater worked great for about a month (the warmest winter month). After that, when I walked into his room it felt colder than the rest of the basement, which is heated. The light was on which indicated that the heater was on, but there was NO heat coming from it. It was cold to the touch. I turned it up and it made no difference. I emailed Soleus about the problem to no avail.

I gave it the winter season to see if anything changed and it didn't. My son just slept with a pile of blankets at night. It's now been tossed in the garbage and I'm looking for another wall mountable heater. I see Delonghi has come out with one and that's probably the route I will go.

IMO, this heater is not worth 2 cents. I wasted $100.00 on it and would never recommend it. I don't know if I had a defective unit or not, but wouldn't spend any more money to find out as Soleus didn't care about my problem and were no help whatsoever. Save your $$$.
