HGW-308 is the WINNER!

by   russwill ,   Nov 14, 2005

Pros:  great price, cheap to run, instant heat, light, silent, and it looks good too.

Cons:  On/Off switch difficult to use (safety boot), hard to see the LEDs on the side.

The Bottom Line:  This is the best there is at 110vac-12Amp!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Gas costs TOO much! This is cheap, clean, safe heat!

I wasn’t too sure about the “Micathermic” part (I figured it was just a new word), but the thing is *NOT* a regular radiator/heater. In fact I do believe it’s much better than the red-hot wire or boiling oil heaters. But it’s different.

It kind’a spreads heat out as like a flood lamp spreads light. The only real heat is felt in the area directly in front of the unit. A small amount of heat rises from the unit.

The HGW-308 is COMPLETELY noiseless. The only way to tell if it’s on is a small LED on the side, and the warmth.

The heat is confusing. I’m sitting in my living room in nothing but a terrycloth bathrobe. The heater is about 10ft away from me set at economize and I’m very comfy. My wall thermometer reads 63 deg! And if I get out of the “beam” of warmth, I feel the 63 degrees. Over time (about 2 hours) the entire space (10x20) will pick up heat and rest around 73 degrees.

It’s important to note that *things* are heated, not air. The air picks up the heat from the *things*. And I think one could shoot the heat through a closed window and heat the trees outside (a shameful waste).

The HGW-308 is going to save me a BUNCH in heating this winter!
