Author's Review
I usually only get the gun mags I find at the gas station when I'm filling up, so I'm happy that Guns & Ammo is easy to find. I'm very much a window shopper, and before I go out and spend $500, $600, $1200 on a new toy, I like to read thoroughly researched articles about it. I also enjoy being kept up to date on the political aspects of firearm ownership in the US, and this magazine does an excellent job of that. I appreciate the open attitude this magazine has. I've picked up a few firearm magazines in the past that gave the distinct impression that they felt women had no business messing around on "their turf", even going so far as to gripe about "gatherers pretending to be hunters" with regards to female law enforcement. Puke. I've never gotten that impression from G&A, so I'd recommend it to women who enjoy murdering a few dozen empty beer cans who dared to sit on a fence rail on a lazy afternoon, as well as serious female shooters.
I'm certainly no expert on firearms, having only a 10/22, .45 Defender, .357 Border Patrol, and a couple of double nines in my toybox, so perhaps someone who is more avid will find this magazine lacking, as it doesn't specialize on any one type of gun, ie only hand guns, or match rifles, etc, but for me, it does the job. It introduces me to the latest models available, so I know what to look for at upcoming gun shows; it shows the latest politician's tricks to strip our rights from us; and it treats all shooters as equal, whether they have a fly in their britches or not. ;)
