World Radio works great on SW Poor on LW

The shortwave bands on this radio are great and the reception is good, but when you take it outside the reception is mediocre and needs a long wire antenna.    The reception from 1.8 MHz to 3.001 MHz receives reception from still the ferrite rod that covers 150 kHz to 1710 kHz, but still receive 1.8 to 3.0 MHz from the ferrite rod, but the reception is fair compared the circuit being connected the the telescoping rod antenna.  The reception when tuned to 3.001 to 29.999 MHz the RF circuit switches from the ferrite rod to telescoping rod antenna.   So if you wanted to improve reception to the radio in the 1.8 MHz to 3.0 MHz you will need a ferrite loop antenna that is tunable in that range with a loop antenna or long wire antenna with a ground connection.   A active antenna from 1.8 MHz to 30 MHz would be essential as long it has a attenuator control on it.   

The LW bands :  The LW bands are ok, very good much better than
the G6, still the 900 kHz image really puts DXing to a halt unless you
have a preselector or tunable loop antenna.  The reception for the LW bands needs improvement just like the Yacht Boy 400 with a
very active circuit.  I still have not heard Europe 1 on 183 kHz yet
with just the ferrite rod, but the YB-400PE can receive it better. 

The MW Bands : The MW bands are good, which is good and the reception picks up semi local stations and DX stations almost like
the Ge Superadio III.   I feel that the MW band filters are a little
too wide to receive DX stations adjecent to the next one.  Still
needs improvement just like the LW bands do. 

The FM Bands :  The FM bands cover 76 MHz to 108 MHz very well,
the reception is excellent.   But due to the adjecent DXing with these
HD radio stations on the air,  DXing is beginning to become difficult
when you cannot receive a semi local station on 94.5 MHz adjecent to 94.9 MHz. 

The sound quality is real good and there is a analog audio out for
connect to your tape or minidisc recorder to catch the rare DX signals
while away.  

The external antenna is suitable for LW/MW/SW reception not FM.
