The GRUNDIG FR200: The "Swiss Army Knife" of EMERGENCY Inexpensive Portable Radios

Date of Review:  Dec 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: This is a fine radio of its type and I recommend it for emergency usage and other uses as well.
Review: The Eton Grundig FR200 portable emergency radio has a number of features that remind me of a Swiss Army Knife. The radio has things about it you don t normally associate with a portable radio, but which add to its appeal and could actually be useful...

The Grundig FR200 May Be The Only Radio You Need

Date of Review:  May 25, 2003
The Bottom Line: Grundig has a winner with the FR200. It's hard to imagine getting this good a radio for under $40. And it never needs batteries or cords.
Review: From an energy usage standpoint, a small portable radio has to qualify as pretty "green" entertainment: With a power draw of just a few watts, you could plug one in and power it all month for pennies' worth of electricity.

Yet, when you...

Tough, Dependable, Energy Saver with Good Range and Sound

Date of Review:  Aug 25, 2008
The Bottom Line: Great for campers, outdoor and rugged portable use especially for AM reception. Makes you work for music and saves on energy costs.
Review: What can you say about Grundig? For years i've been using an antique Grundig shortwave in my workshop - it comes in beautifully and looks great. When it comes to electronics, Grundig is a very reliable name.

It was then an easy decision...

Nice to have around

Date of Review:  Feb 14, 2005
The Bottom Line: Great for blackouts and the beach
Review: I published a small part of this review on a radio enthusiast web site. However, much of this review is new.

First of all, what is a survival radio anyways? Is it a device that is supposed to work for years without power? Probably not. For...

Inexpensive Peace of Mind and a Friendly Voices to keep you Company

Date of Review:  Jan 5, 2007
The Bottom Line: It will always work, no matter what the situation is and you will be glad you own it !
Review: The best $49.99 (cdn) I have ever spent. For some time now, my wife and I had been meaning to get a Disaster kit built and stocked for those events in Life that are truly un-forseen. We finally took a weekend off together and did the running around...

Review: I recently purchased this radio as a gift for father's day. I found that the radio received better reception than most "plug in types". After playing with Dad's I'm finding that I want to get one for myself. I would recommend this product to others...

Great value for the money, but not for serious shortwave listening

Date of Review:  Mar 30, 2003
The Bottom Line: Good value for the money, good performance on AM / FM, poor-to-mediocre Shortwave performance. A good cheap expendable radio to take out camping, or for emergency use.
Review: I was looking for a radio for my home preparedness kit. I thought the combination of battery power, self-power (mechanical crank), external power, flashlight, AM / FM / Shortwave would be ideal.

I was happy to receive, for $39.95, a small,...

The GRUNDIG FR200

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: The radio is a good value and has many useful features.
Review: The GRUNDIG FR200 is a versatile, light weight radio. It contains a rechargeable battery pack, similar to cordless phones, a flashlight, and an AM/FM/shortwave band radio. You can recharge the batteries with an 12 volt, 100mA, AC adapter or with the...

Grundig FR-200. Cute radio, great performer.

Date of Review:  Feb 16, 2004
The Bottom Line: Can't go wrong for the money. A cheap way to get into SW listening and also be prepared for the next blackout.
Review: I bought this radio a year ago as a late Christmas present for myself. I have always been fascinated by those "hand-cranked" radios that don't need batteries, as they would be handy in an emergency.

As it turns out, this radio is not...
