Author's Review
Hellllllllllloooo
As you can probably tell by the title(if not the section), then I'm reviewing Grey Goose Vodka, probably one of the most respected spirits in the Vodka realm, at this point and time.
Having moved from just a drinkers drink, to a hip-hop backed movement, Grey Goose is probably one of the most recognized names in the alcohol industry(check grey-goose tour w/bone thugs n harmony-2002). Having an elegant bottle(at not to high a price for a working person!), Grey Goose has exploded into the mainstream of drinker fanatics.
Appearance
Vodka is vodka.. ok.. but just in case yo udon't know what vodka looks like, it's a crystal clear concoction, with the fluidity of water. There's no foam, and little character of the actual liquid. All visual appeal comes from the bottle itself, which as an artistic depiction of a goose outlined by a beautiful background scenery and a flock of geese behind it.
Smell
Brisk, light smell. Can pick up hints of the grain it is distilled from, but not over-whelming like the grain that burns in the storage bins here, you know.. that nausious burning cheerio smell. Instead, Grey Goose carries a light aroma of grain, with a hint of alcohol that brushes on the nose..
Flavor
First impression on my palate, bitter & kind of sour, though almost refreshing, cold. Second impression meets with the same first impression, then goes to an alcoholic burn, like the taste of rubbing alcohol. However, the grey goose doesn't have an over-whelming alcoholic burn, in fact carries a light, flavorful fore-taste, with an after-taste that's surpisingly not bad, considering it's hard liquor.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't generally like hard-liquor straight, so I doubt from now on I'll drink this down by itself. However, compared to drinks like Sapphire London Dry Gin, Grey Goose is extremely refreshing on the palate. It's a vodka, that I could sip on(slow mind you, I don't believe in chugging down a whole bunch of this stuff by itself).
Possibilities
This would be nice, say mixed with orange juice, pineapple juice.. or any number of other drinks, which require vodka, or might be given a nice little kick, with a bit of vodka. It also might be used to strengthen the kick of Hpnotiq, or some other liquor.
Why Grey-Goose
Besides its growing reputation, the bottle is eye-catching. Vodka is also well known, and so when looking through the bottles at the liquor store, it's very hard to miss Grey Goose, whose bottle stands out, amongst the Smirnoff and Absolut.
My Vote
Grey Goose gets my vote as a great vodka. Compared to Smirnoff(which I found extremely disgusting, from first-impression to second-impression to last impression), Grey is a delicious vodka, that is worthy of the commercial attention it has thus-far received among celebrities and regular people a like.
Strength
Grey Goose is 40% abv(alcohol by volume). This means it's 80 proof. While there are alcoholic drinks stronger then it(London Dry Gin, Bacardi 151, Everclear..etc..etc), 40% abv is by no means, a weak biter. An 80 proof drink, is sufficiently strong enough to mess you up rather fast. So, if you're not looking to get messed up, please consider drinking this real careful, or consider drinking another kind of alcohol, like maybe Malibu Rum(21% abv), or any other liquors like Hpnotiq(17% abv) or Godiva Liquor(17% abv).
A Whole Line of Products
Grey Goose offers more then just regular vodka, it also has citrus flavored vodkas, which are also available. I haven't as of yet, tried these other versions, but I'm sure that after tasting the regular grey goose, that the others will be nothing less then good.
If You Like
The light flavor of Vodka, you might also like: Crown Royal(A Canadian Whisky, mildly sweet in flavor), Bacardi Superior(Puerto Rican Rum).
Finally
Remember, drink responsibly! Don't drink and drive! Enjoy this in moderation, and try not to waste any of this precious liquid, as it'd be a crime unto itself! :).
