Great juicer for serious juice drinkers
Date of Review: Apr 28, 2006
The Bottom Line: I recommend this machine to serious juice consumers. Excellent juice quality to be drunk by ill people for health reasons, but not only. Good for everyone who likes juice.
I bought this juicer particularly for my spouse who is ill and needs to drink lots of juice. The juice is of excellent quality.
Previous reviews complain about cleaning. I had a centrifugal juicer before, and cleaning Green Star is a lot easier than cleaning a centrifugal one. A special brush is provided also which goes in all the hard to clean spots.
Plus, with Green Star you can juice continuously, no need to stop and clean to de-clog as with a centrifugal one. This definitely reduces the number of cleanings per day.
For some of you out there, who know more about the importance of drinking different juices in order to improve health, to get a machine not heating while juicing is VERY important. This juicer does NOT heat, so the enzymes are not destroyed in the process. Other nice things about this juicer, it does not vibrate and it does not "walk" away while pushing the material through.
I will definitely recommend this juicer to anyone who is into drinking lots of juice, every day. It is excellent for Dr. Gerson diet, Dr. Kelley diet, vegetarians, juice therapy etc.
But, for people who like to have a small glass of juice in a while, this juicer is too much. It costs too much for occasional juicing, and occupies big space on the counter or in cabinet. It is considered professional, has a powerful motor, so, it is intended to work hard, every day, using different material of different texture.
The price for the quality and what it can do, is excellent. There are juicers out there costing around $2,000 doing almost the same thing as the Green Star, so ..if you need good quality and big quantity of juice every day, get a Green Star.
It's versatility allows for production of clear juice, juice with pulp, crushed fruits/vegetables (meat), baby food and more. It even makes chlorophyll-high juice from spinach, alfalfa, wheat and barley grass, etc.
And as a bonus, you can also make pasta and bread sticks with this particular model.
For juicing soft fruits, there is an adjustment knob.
Also, I figured that, while juicing, it's helpful to alternate the fruits and vegetables with different texture in order to get the juice out faster.
Make sure to read the machine specification to know what you get and to use it at maximum. I bought mine for $396 from www.2-life.com. It came with all the attachments and a nice plastic cover to protect from dust. To see the available attachments for each model, go to www.greestar.com.
Well, good luck with your purchase. But make sure you do your homework before buying, otherwise you end up with multiple machines and lots of frustration. I finally am happy with this juicer for my needs: lots of good quality juice every day made from different fruits and vegetables.
If you have similar needs, you will be happy too.
