Soleus CFM-40 Dehumidifier

All the positive features of this unit are true. It is a quiet and effective unit. But today in its second season of use and after the expiration of the one year warranty, it stopped operating. Here is the interesting part. The float no longer operates the internal switch. If I put my finger in there and pretend to be the float, the unit will operate. I figured there must be a simple fix to this. But when I called the manufacturer's help line, I was told that the unit has to be replaced once the switch acts like that and cannot be fixed. That's not acceptable. They did not offer me any incentives to replace it.
