I read a lot of horror but rarely do I read a book that actually scared me, and Grave's End truly scared me. This is not a fictional book, but what this woman and her family lived through for twelve terrrifying years.
While I read this book, I slept with the television on and would wake up immediately if someone turned it off. I made sure my closet doors were closed tight, and I double checked the corners of my bedroom before I would go to sleep at night. From the very first page of this book I was involved with this woman's life and her hauntings.
Mercado describes her events like they just happened yesterday. They are very vivid and bone shivering to read. When she felt a spirit touch the inside of her thighs, I too, felt the horror and the chills that this woman felt. Her descriptions tingle all of your senses. You can feel what she felt, smell the unappealing odors she had to, hear the whispers and taste the terror her and her family went through.
As I read the book, I tried to figure out who or what was haunting them. I was discovering the haunts with this author. She doesn't scream out in the first chapter who/what haunted her home, but leaves trails of ghostly bread crumbs to follow till you reach the last page. Something I truly admire, because this is what really made the book scary for me, the not knowing along with the author.
For a spine-tingling, hair raising, and a shadow checking book to read, purchase this book and be ready for the scares of a life time!
Happy Nightmares!
