Author's Review
I enjoyed the Quattro from beginning to end. It was truly the travel system of my dreams. Having had my first two children in the early 90s, before travel systems were so prevalent, I literally dreamed of a system that I could take a sleeping baby from car to stroller without waking. And a cup holder too! I'd almost say that this concept was the highlight of having a third child - all the cute baby stuff aside.
After having already assembled the crib, dresser, changing table, and swing, my husband was not eager to assemble the stroller. My mom came over one afternoon and she and I were able to assemble it easily and quickly. The instructions were easy to follow. The weight of the stroller concerned me at first but never was a problem as far as lifting in and out of a Suburban.
I found the carrier easier to snap on and off of both the base and the stroller. I always felt that the system was solid and secure, safely snuggling my baby.
I enjoyed that the stroller could snap off and be used as a bassinet which we used for afternoon naps at the in-laws. It also makes a great changing table when none other is available.
Once the baby out grew the carrier and graduated to a regular car seat, I looked forward to using the stand alone stroller for all of our outings. Until this time I had only used the stroller in a 100% flat position.
To my surprise, I found the seat back difficult to raise and lock in place. After a few uses I noticed that the back was not holding its position and would gradually recline until the baby was all the way flat. Turns out the metal bar/pin contraption was defective. I discovered this by turning the stroller over and removing some of the padding. The thing looked like it got chewed up by machinery. Even though it had been almost a year since purchase, Babies R Us graciously accepted the system back for store credit. Since I didn't need the carrier and base, I purchased a new stand alone stroller instead of the travel system. However, 18 months later I still miss some of the beautiful features of this stroller.
