Horrible Monitor, Great Customer Service!

My husband did all the research for our monitor choice, he really wanted a video monitor and this was his final candidate. We got it months before baby was due and we played with it a little bit. Our first problem was it didn’t tilt and pan enough to get baby in the crib without a) attaching it to the ceiling or b) placing a shelf in a very odd spot in the nursery. We opted for the shelf. Once baby arrived he didn’t sleep in his room for a while so we moved the monitor to our room and that’s about it’s only plus… it’s easy to move. We noticed right away that something was interfering with the signal because the screen would pixilate for no apparent reason. It got worse as time went on to the point that we were going up to two minutes not being able to see or hear baby! We tried everything to fix it including turning off and unplugging every appliance and electronic in our home, it still didn’t work properly. The parent unit also had issues as the screen did not “sleep” like it was supposed to and the unit would get very hot to touch and the battery would last at most 45 minutes (not good for a baby who sleeps 8 hours!). The one good thing about this experience was the customer service we received when we called Graco. They sent us a prepaid mailing label and we mailed the unit back along with a copy of our receipt and are now awaiting a refund check. They said it could be the studs in our walls causing the interference and admitted that the digital signal was very tricky.
