Three Way Showdown: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly |
|||||||||
|
Pros: Wallach, Eastwood, Van Cleef, Direction, Score
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Stylish western that must be seen. This is the best of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.
Review: "In this world there are two kinds of men, those who have loaded guns and those who dig. You dig." Blondie, "The Good"
"When I'm paid, I always follow my job through. You know that." Angel Eyes, "The Bad" "When you have to shoot,... |

The Good, the Bad, the Pasta: Sergio Leone Goes West in Style |
|||
|
Pros: While everyone remembers Clint Eastwood, it's Eli Wallach who gives the best performance
Cons: Less-patient viewers might get restless at the nearly three-hour length
The Bottom Line: One of the best American Westerns ever filmed (courtesy of an Italian director), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is full of stylish menace.
Review: Sergio Leones landmark Western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is, truth be told, really not a Western at all. Oh sure, it has horses and gunfights and squint-eyed Clint Eastwood; but if you want to be nit-picky about it, youd have to call it a...

Leone's The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (Lemon_Lime's "Third Times A Charm" Write-Off) |
|||
|
Pros: Wallach esp., Eastwood and Van Cleef, Leone's visuals, Morricone's music
Cons: Hmmm... not much
The Bottom Line: Leone's masterpiece, dissected in 2500 words. Read at your own risk.
Review: [This is my entry in lemon_lime's "Third Times A Charm" w/o, celebrating his 3rd anniversary at Epinions on January 10th, 2003. In an attempt to keep the dominant motif for the write-off triangular, Chad proposed that each participant must write...

Sergio Leone's Classic Spaghetti Western |
|||||||
|
Pros: Incredibly stylish, truly amazing sound--and lack therof
Cons: May be too long for some (impatient) viewers
The Bottom Line: Amazing. A landmark film in the history of cinema, and one that everyone has to see at one point or another.
Review: I'm not a fan of westerns. Up until about a month ago, when I thought of a western I thought of overly long and essentially non-exciting landscape films where little happened, and the film plodded on for a ridiculous amount of time. THE GOOD, THE BAD,...

There's 2 Kinds of People... Those with Loaded Guns & Those Who Dig... You Dig |
|||||||||
|
Pros: Leone's Direction, Script, Cinematography, Locations, Morricone's Music, & Cast notably Eastwood.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly is a Flat-Out Masterpiece from Sergio Leone & Co. with Great Performances from Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, & Eli Wallach.
Review: When the Spaghetti Westerns arrived from Italian directors as an alternative to not just the arty, Italian movies from North Italy. They were also an alternative to traditional Westerns by presenting a grittier, realistic portrait of the Western genre ...

The Ecstasy of Gold: The Collector's Set DVD Review. |
|||||||||
|
Pros: Leone's spaghetti western masterpiece, restored for DVD with a bounty of bonuses.
Cons: There's some slight audio/visual quibbles...and that's it!
The Bottom Line: Leone, Eastwood, Wallach, Morricone and crew deliver the most entertaining, stylish spaghetti western ever. The DVD is a must buy.
Review: "The real West was the world of violence, fear and brutal instincts. In pursuit of profit there is no such thing as good and evil, generosity or deviousness; everything depends on chance, and not the best wins but the luckiest." - Sergio Leone, director ...

Pros: Film-making at its finest
Cons: Destroyed in the network pan-and-scan format
Review: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly has been one of my favourite films since childhood. It has Clint Eastwood, awesome music and it's long. As a child, staying up for movies was based on my father's rule of "You watch what I want to watch or...

Pros: Best of the Eastwood spaghetti entrees...
Cons: Too much garlic in the pasta...
Review: Clint Eastwood has always been one of the most cunning actors in the business. He made his bones in "Rawhide", rising from obscurity into a place of familiarity among American boob tubers in the 60's. He next sojourned to Europe and became an...

Pros: cinematography, score, direction, cast, story
Cons: violent, slowly paced
Review: In the mid-1960s, Clint Eastwood made three 'spaghetti' westerns in Europe under the direction of Sergio Leone. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) was the third, the last, and the best of them.
The first two films, Fistful of... |

Pros: GREAT actors\acting, Sergio Leone's best western, an epic, great soundtrack!!!!
Cons: Cons? I don't see any cons?
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation, obviously, is to see this movie, no matter if you're a western fan or not, however you'd enjoy it alot more if you are.
Review: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...the name says it all. Sergio Leone's final in the 'man with no name' trilogy and best of the three by leagues and leagues. This movie touched me deeply the first time I saw it, which was at an art house cinema in the city ...
