Good Omens, Great read! "The Omen" meets "Dennis the Menace"

Date of Review:  Dec 30, 2006
The Bottom Line: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett make an irresistible comic team! This book could lift the cloud-of-doom off of just about any bad day!
Review: After having so much positive feedback on my review of Christopher Moore's "The Stupidest Angel", I figured I MUST now write a review of Gaiman and Pratchett's "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch".
First of all,...

As If The End of The World Wasn't Funny Enough On It's Own

Date of Review:  Jun 27, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you have ever wanted to read a book about the end of the world and Nostradamus never held your attention then this might be a great alternative!
Review: Readers who are familiar with the name Neil Gaiman know that when they read a book by him they'll get a thoroughly unique and well imagined story with some dark humor thrown in.

Readers who are familiar with the name Terry Pratchett know...

The funniest book I have ever read.

Date of Review:  Mar 16, 2008
The Bottom Line: Buy two copies; you'll wear the first one out, and you'll want to give the other one to someone.
Review: I've read many thousands of SF/F books. I put this at the apex. For context on my opinion, the quality and depth of the tale is above even:
#2. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams),
#3. The Princess Bride (William Goldman),...

Good Storytelling

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2000
Review: Good Omens is a collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and is a perfect example of why talented people should work together from time to time.

This satire on armageddon and religion in general is hilarious and well written,...

Who are we kidding?

Date of Review:  Jan 19, 2000
Review: I can start by saying this book is funny. If you have a sick and twisted sense of humor like me. Now that?s not to say that you will not like this book if you are not warped like me, but it defiantly appeals to my strange side.
This book is...

Bible stories on Acid

Date of Review:  Dec 18, 1999
Review: Absolutely Hilarious!! I haven't read many satires, but this book made me seriously consider looking into making it a regular part of my reading list. From the garden of Eden to the gardens of Exbury, the only thing not in this book is the kitchen...

Read It

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2007
Review: As a child/teen I read all the time. Somewhere in the life as a working mom I have not been able to find the time. My teen daughter reads constantly. Books like her dad likes, sci-fi and fantasy, nothing I'd ever be interested in.

But she...

I've probably said this a million times, but i'll say it again...NEIL GAIMAN KICKS BUTT!!! A little less than a year ago, a friend of mine introduced me to the works...

Good omens from Gaiman and Pratchett

Date of Review:  Jul 17, 2003
The Bottom Line: I think it is a great satire book, especially for those not familiar with the genre. It makes you think and laugh at the same time.
Review: I'd like to start off this review by saying that I've been an avid Christian most of my life, going to church on Sunday and helping out with church activities. But that doesn't mean that I close my mind to anything that makes me think about or...

The Bottom Line: I have three copies...everyone else should have at least one
Review: Most people are familiar with Neil Gaiman from his work in the Sandman comic books and Terry Pratchet from his Discworld series. But this book has to be one of the best works of fiction that I will ever read. The two main characters are an angel...
