Gilmore Girls First Season

I was very hesitant to watch this DVD when it was bought for me by a friend who swore up and down that this was one of the best television shows to ever be on TV. I not only questioned the fact that it was on a network that I normally did not enjoy watching but I had caught a couple of episodes here and there on TV and it drove me crazy how fast everyone talked! I had no idea who was who and why they had so much to say.

My viewpoint of this television series changed drastically when I finally decided to check out the show from the very first episode. I am so glad that I decided to do so because I was immediately hooked. This show had great characters and I was so excited to see not only that the grandfather was the villian from The Lost Boys movie but that Gloria from All in the Family was also part of the cast.

The series does move quickly but that is the major part of its appeal. The writers, producers, etc. make sure that you feel connected to each of these people. The sarcasm and use of terms from popular culture (along with referencing popular culture from recent years) makes this show so much fun to watch. I love this season in particular because the characters seem so innocent. The relationship between Lorelai and her daughter is great in this season (before anything dramatic that happens in later seasons). It's funny and will tug at your heartstrings at the same time.

This season is highly recommended to watch with a group of girl friends or even by yourself. I do warn that it is very hard to turn this season off. You may need to invest several hours within your week to just watch the whole thing. I don't know that the majority of men would really like this show but I could easily be wrong.
