Author's Review
My sisters and I were going to get the Gilmore Girls First Season for my mom on Mother's Day. I had seen a lot of the episodes and new that I would enjoy it. I was so excited because it was one of those presents where you're buying it more for yourself than you are for the actual person. When my sisters backed out, saying that they were going to get her something else, I still wanted it. I finally gave in and spent $45 on a present for myself. It was one of the best presents I have ever boughten for myself. I can't get enough of Gilmore Girls. I have gotten many people to also be addicted to Gilmore Girls, including my brother (the sports and comic book loving man). He has boughten his own seasons. Any person that I tell about Gilmore Girls has started watching it and become addicted.
The Plot
Gilmore Girls is about Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) (also named Lorelai but everyone calls her Rory) Gilmore. They are a mother-daughter combo that every woman out there wishes they had. I'm very close to my mom, but few are as close as Lorelai and Rory. They are best friends first and mother-daughter second. Lorelai is a 32 year old caffeine addict. She is the manager of the Independence Inn with other best friend and chef Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy) and Michel Gerard (Yanic Truesdale). Rory is a 15 (turning 16 during the season) year old school addict who, in the first episode, gets accepted to the prestigious private school, Chilton. Chilton is very expensive, so Lorelai goes to her parents, with her tail between her legs, for financial help. Her parents (Richard and Emily Gilmore, played by Edward Herrmann and Kelly Bishop) are extremely wealthy and social standing is everything with them. Lorelai has barely talked to her parents since she ran away from home at age 16 after having baby Rory. Their is always a lot of tension in the Gilmore home. Richard and Emily agree to pay for Chilton in exchange for Friday night dinners. After not seeing her parents for 16 years, Lorelai must see them every single Friday night. Lorelai grudgingly accepts knowing that it is the right thing for Rory. Gilmore Girls is set in the fictitious town of Stars Hollow. Stars Hollow has many colorful characters including Rory's other best friend, Lane Kim(Keiko Agena) and diner owner, Luke Danes (Scott Patterson). Every episode we see Lorelai and Rory face the world of romance, school, and family.
