Do you believe in love?

I had honestly forgotten just what a powerful movie this film is. I was flipping through the channels and saw that it was on tv today. I decided to get out my copy and watch it again. Boy, was I glad I did. This is one of those timeless films that never ceases to move me.

Patrick Swayze is the highlight of this film, in my opinion. His acting is amazing. There are so many times throughout that he goes for long periods never saying a word. Even though he doesn't speak, you can tell exactly what he is feeling. His facial expressions, his body language, everything work together to portray the emotions of his character.

Whoopie Goldberg also does an excellent job with her character. She is funny, but she is also real. Demi Moore is not my favorite actress, but she does a decent job with this role. She is vulnerable without being an absolute wimp.

This movie is about the power of love. It is also about the agony of betrayal. Sam and Molly(Swayze and Moore) are in love. They are planning a life together when Sam is suddenly killed. Sam can not move on to the afterlife, because he can not bear to leave Molly. Sam soon discovers he was murdered. He must enlist the aid of Oda Mae Brown(Goldberg) to warn Molly that she is in danger. She resists at first, but eventually helps him.

I do not recommend this film for children. There are some scary parts. The demons that come when bad people die can be really frightening. There is quite a bit of violence. There is also one very suggestive scene between Swayze and Moore. To me it is one of the best sex scenes in any movie. It is suggestive without really showing anything.

I do recommend this for any adult. It is emotional. There is action. There is suspense. There is also humor. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. If you haven't seen it, you are missing a treat. If you have seen it, why not give it another viewing? I don't think you will be disappointed.
