George Foreman does it again....

So my old GF grill died, finally. These grills don't seem to last more than 4-5 years. First, one of the buttons wore out, and then finally, the thing just wouldn't turn on again. So it's time for an upgrade. Enter the new George Foreman: The Next Generation.

I think Star Trek would be peeved about this grill, considering they ripped of the title and the font. But never mind, on to the review.

Features:

Somebody listened! They finally put a timer on the grill. Not only will it beep when it's warmed up and ready to go, it will beep when your food is ready. The removable dishwasher-safe surface is a definite plus for us lazy people. This assumes though that you do your dishes every day. What would be really great is if they gave you two sets of plates, so that us really lazy people can swap them out instead of cleaning them. Hey, they give you two grease catchers, why not?

The grill is easy to use, no need to read the instructions to understand how to work it. However, it's a good idea so the 1% of the population who might stick their dog in the microwave to dry it off don't try putting Fido in the George Foreman. That is not how you make a hot dog.

Aesthetics:

Wow! Great stuff. Did I really need independent controls on a two-sided grill? Probably not. This one doesn't have it (my old one did). Silver is a nice touch. I find the white models haze and turn yellow no matter how hard you scrub.

Ease of use:

Generally all these are simple to use. The George Foreman grill continues to be the third-most used appliance in my kitchen, surpassed only by the microwave and fridge. Steaks and burgers turn out great. Sometimes the underside gets soggy, so giving the meat a flip half-way through is a good practice even though the grill is double-sided.

The only downside I could see is that the plastic clips that hold the removable plates to the unit seem flimsy to me and are a bit hard to work sometimes.
