Author's Review
I finally bought one of the small George Foreman grills! I first saw them about two years ago, but just never got around to buying one. A couple of weeks ago the small size was advertised on sale at Target for only $18. The regular price at some stores is as high as $29.95. I like bargains, so this sale prompted me to go get one. I'm now wondering how I got along without it! It's a great way to cook in hot weather, it doesn't make a big mess, and it's a way to conserve energy!
This is also a very easy and fast way to cook a lot of different foods. Both sides of the food cook at one time, so most meats take only 5 to 8 minutes. It is designed so any fat from meat will run into a small tray that sets in front of it. Many vegetables can also be cooked on it. And it is so easy to clean! Food does not stick to it, so all it needs is to be wiped with a clean sponge or paper towel. Only plastic or wooden utensils should be used. It comes with a plastic spatula, but it is rather flimsy.
The grills are made in several different sizes. The small size I purchased is a good size for one person. The grilling area is a roomy size for one hamburger patty, steak, or pork chop. Besides meat, I have already tried squash, onions, and mushrooms. And even some Gala apples! All were delicious! It also makes a very good grilled cheese sandwich!
A new feature that has been added to this size grill is the timer and the on/off buttons. (Before, only the largest size had these.) The grill beeps a few times when the selected time is up, and the grill turns itself off automatically. Even with this feature, it should be unplugged when you're finished using it.
The grill comes with a small users manual that includes a few recipes and a chart on how long different meats should be grilled. It has a one year warranty.
