The Little Car that Could

by   gahread ,  Aug 14, 2005
Pros: Better mileage than most hybrids!
Cons: Not the thing to impress your girlfriend with
The Bottom Line: Basic car, great price, reliable and easy at the pump. Why can't we get cars like this ten years later?
Review: I owned my Metro from 1998 to 2003, until I had to leave it behind and fly to my next job. Because of the great experience I had with it, I'm trying to get another for my next car in 2005. Metros are tiny and I wouldn't recommend actually putting ...

Thrifty Transport

by   bassetherder ,  Nov 17, 2006
Pros: Gas Mileage, Gas Mileage, and Gas Mileage.
Cons: As with motorcycles, don't get hit. Noisy. I can live with it.
The Bottom Line: Value. Superior gas mileage. Simple. Gets you there for a fraction of the cost of other vehicles.
Review: I rescue Basset Hounds in Appalachia. The average haul (home-shelter-vet clinic-home) is about 600mi. My geriatric 86 Volvo 4banger got about 22mpg on the road, and when gas spiked over the $3 mark, those little Metros were looking attractive. Alas, ...

1993 Geo Metro is great

by   glake ,  Apr 29, 2000
Pros: reliable, inexpensive, great mileage
Cons: Well what do you want from a small car?
Review: First of all, if you are like a lot of people I know who just hate small cars, go buy something else! If you want something to get you to work, this is a good choice. I read another review where someone complained about not being able to go over 85. I've...

Our Geo

by   beauti ,  Jul 20, 2003
Pros: Good on gas, reliable.
Cons: Uncomfortable seating, kind of cramped with more than 1 person.

Best car deal I ever made.

by   geosooner ,  Oct 3, 2007
Pros: MPG!!! Easy to work on. Room for my long legs. Dependable economic transportation.
Cons: Can't find 12in tires anywhere. About as safe as skateboard. Needs cupholders. Not a convertible.
The Bottom Line: Great car. I would buy two more at the price I paid. Great commuter car.
Review: I bought this Geo to commute to work just before gas prices started to rise. Timing was great on my part. I bought it knowing it had a CV joint that needed replacement and the previous owner kept the radio. I spent $50 on the CV/Drive shaft and $50 for a ...

Review: I bought my Geo Metro off the lot in 1992. My husband who is not a mechanic has done all the work on it and found it easy to work on. The only repairs we have done were oil changes every 3 months or so, plugs etc, replaced the battery, the hood ...

Good car for the money

by   gigamatt ,  Sep 1, 2000
Pros: Gas mileage, durability
Cons: Painful seat, easy crumples in accident
Review: Back in March of 1993, when I was a poor commuting college student, I purchased the absolute base model Metro, new, for only $6250. In the first couple months, I did have some trouble with a couple of switches: in the door and on the domelight... the...

Still running

by   jarrandale ,  Aug 4, 2000
Pros: Gas mileage, low costs
Cons: No safety features
Review: My husband and I purchased this car new from the dealer in 1993 and gave it to my brother in 1998 when my husband got a company car. At 120,000 miles, it still ran like it did when we first bought it. Highway mileage was still at 45-50 mpg and city at...

A great little car

by   rydervixen ,  Oct 21, 2002
Pros: Gas mileage, runs forever
Cons: Small, cramped seats
The Bottom Line: If you can get one of these little bombers that was well cared for at a fair price and are looking for a good commuter vehicle, buy it!
Review: I purchased this car used in December of 1999 as the third owner. At the time I was driving a large Mercury Grand Marquis and was looking to sell it and buy something more gas economical. I found the car for sale in some local on-line classified ads. The...
