I received these headphones for my birthdat back in February and have logged probably 50 hours of music in them so far. the HP170s are the most comfortable and clear sounding headphones I have owned before. The only real downside to these phones is that they are bulky and that makes for a little bit harder transportation. But when it comes to headphones, you will have to comprimise sound quality for headphone size.
These phones fit like a glove and feel very light and soft on your head. I can listen to music or play games on my computer or Xbox for hours on end and forget that I am using headphones. There is no uncomfortable rubbing and chafing like there would be on other headphone models. The earpieces are fitted with a soft fleece-like material on my pair, but I have seen them with a smooth material on them as well in stores.
As far as the sound quality, these phones receive a perfect grade. They have excellent bass and can handle a great range of low level sound without any distortion. I had to turn down the bass slider on my computer because these headphones provide so much depth and power to the music. They really show their power when playing PC games that have large explosion sounds. High level sound comes through perfectly crisp and clear, which is what you expect from a pair of 50 dollar headphones. All sound is of course in perfect stereo.
Overall, these are top of the line professional headphones, so you can expect to fork out a good chunk of change to purchase them. But the incredible sound quality and soft, comfortable wear make it worth the money.
