In most respects a real disappointment
Pros:
Inexpensive for a 256MB player
Cons:
Truly lousy customer support: uninformed, unhelpful.
Falsely advertised Audible.com file support.
Cheaply built.
Unusable buttons.
The Bottom Line:
Though advertised, it lacks Audible file support. The product is cheaply built and has the worst buttons and user-interface I've seen on an MP3 player. Shame on you Gateway!

Author's Review
After much research I was delighted to find this unit. Small, inexpensive, and most importantly, the web site and packaging materials said it included support for Audible.com files. I eagerly opened the plastic container and started the process of activating the player with Audible.com. Though every site and every piece of marketing material not only advertises Audible compatibility, and there is a co-branded promotion offering a free one-month Audible membership for new owners, prior to release, Gateway decided to yank Audible support for all but the most expensive unit...the DMP-X20. I wish they'd had the decency to change the advertising and packaging. And this wouldn't be as troubling if in the first call to Gateway they'd acknowledged the omission. Only after being tossed for hours (literally...not an exaggeration) between Gateway and Audible (with the old tech-support blame-shifting), did I finally find someone at Audible that had the straight info. After 3.5 hours of hassling with support and customer service, their only answer was suggesting I take it back to BestBuy for a refund. and when I mentioned I felt their poor business practices wasted a chunk of my day, there was no apology. I will never purchase an item from Gateway again, and I'd advise you look at other reviews. The item is cheaply built and it has the cheesiest feeling buttons I've ever seen on an MP3 player. Though cheap, it is worth less than you paid!
