Date of Review:  Apr 28, 2004
The Bottom Line: The eTrex is a simple (and inexpensive) GPS that is perfect for someone just starting out with GPS
Review: An inexpensive, rugged and easy to use GPS unit, the Garmin eTrex GPS is an good first-time GPS unit for users who are looking for a simple and foolproof system as an introduction to the world of GPS.

A Great Hiking Companion

Date of Review:  Jun 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: Etrex is an excellent companion to any hiker looking for a lightweight reliable tool to provide geographical information.
Review: I?ve owned the Garmin Etrex for nearly a year and I have used it on three separate continents: North America, Europe and Asia. For its low price I found out that it is one of the best GPS products available. I was amazed at how functional it is for...

Garmin eTrex. Not for the Professional Tracker, but sufficient for the Concrete Jungle

Date of Review:  Mar 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: For a basic GPS unit, this eTrex will serve you well. If you're going packing to Alaska to unknown territory, then invest in a more expensive unit.
Review: Garmin came out with a great sales nitch with this piece of technology. I liken it to the Celeron by Intel. They cut out a few of the 'premium' options in GPS (Global Positioning System) Units, lowered the price, and made a reliably handy locator...

A GPS that works...sort of

Date of Review:  Dec 30, 2000
Review: You get what you pay for with Garmin's most inexpensive GPS--the yellow eTrex. The eTrex has can track up to 12 separate satellites using its 12 channel parallel receiver, and weighs just under 5 1/2 oz. with batteries. It's a very small, portable...

Take a Little Time to Find Yourself.

Date of Review:  Feb 12, 2002
The Bottom Line: Spend the extra dough for the eTrex Legend.
Review: Soon after having moved to Atlanta, GA from California I purchased my Garmin eTrex GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) receiver. It's been over a year since then and time has proven this little yellow gizmo to be one of my new best friends in the big...

Garmin eTrex Vista: The Cadillac of Handheld GPS!

Date of Review:  Sep 22, 2001
The Bottom Line: My favorite new gadget with 1001 uses! But stock up on AA batteries!
Review: This Review Covers the Garmin eTrex VISTA Model

A GPS receiver should come with certain amenities: mosquito repellant, bandages, allergy medicine, etc. In the absence of those, it is nice to find a handheld GPS receiver full of other...

Great value for the money!

Date of Review:  Nov 24, 2000
The Bottom Line: Still one of the cheapest units available. Very good quality, and excellent usability if you don't need a ton of features.
Review: I bought my eTrex from Amazon.com a couple of months ago. I paid $113, and it's dropped a little lower since then. I looked at a number of higher-priced units, and although they?re nice, I determined that the eTrex would do everything I needed it to...

Just Like Star Trek!

Date of Review:  Aug 1, 2004
The Bottom Line: Built to last! Get this unit if you are a gadget aficionado, do any sort of outdoor activities, or drive a car, boat, or aircraft. Very cool!
Review: Basics:
The title quotes the first words I uttered as I took this gadget out of the box and into the yard. I felt just like Spock with his tricorder, being able to know where I was going and where I've been. The eTrex is well worth its $100 for...

Good for the amateur GPS user

Date of Review:  Jul 17, 2003
The Bottom Line: For the beginner GPS user this is a great unit at a great price. Small and travel compatible with GREAT battery life.
Review: I recently took a 3 week trip to Belize. While I was there I decided that I wanted to do some GeoCaching(http://www.geocaching.com/) and decided to pick up a cheap GPS that would be small but have the features required to get me to my waypoints and...

I'll never get lost.... again!

Date of Review:  Feb 4, 2001
The Bottom Line: The Etrex is an excellent inexpensive outdoors GPS. You could spend extra and get more frills but not more function. It will always get you out of the woods.
Review: I am an avid hiker, mountain biker, hunter, and off-road vehicle rider. Up until about six months ago I believed that I had an uncanny sense of direction. I prided myself on never getting lost on the roads or in the woods. Well that changed last...
