Weird directions and Got me lost

Date of Review: Dec 7, 2007

The Bottom Line:  I don't recommend this GPS.
We purchased this GPS to use with our motor home. Getting lost in a vehicle that is 30 feet long is frightening. So we looked at reviews on the internet and then went shopping. We found a good price on this Garmin GPS at Best Buy. We opened it immediately and it was great. We wanted to have lunch at a Mexican restaurant and it found one close and gave us clear directions. Then we headed home. I decided to see if it would give me good directions to our home. It directed us to turn into the subdivision just south of the one we live in.

The next day we were out shopping and I needed to find a Toys R Us. No problem. It found the store. Problem. It gave it weird directions to Toys R Us. First it directed us to I-10 and headed us south and then as we passed the exit that would have taken us to River Rd, it directed us the take the Sunset Exit and then follow the frontage road south to the next exit. Then it had us go east to La Cholla and turn north. Then go north to River Rd. (remember we had passed the exit that would have taken us to River) This took us about 6 miles out of our way.

The next week after work I was trying to figure out a good way to go to Costco from the office I was at. It directed me to head north on Dodge Street. Then at the intersection where I usually turn Left and head west it directed me to go straight. I though maybe it knew a better way. NOT. I wound up on a street that ended in a community center parking lot. Had we been in our motor home this would have been a disaster. There would have been no way to turn around!

We are taking this GPS back tomorrow. I can't have something that would get me more lost then if I was just following a map.
